Practicing My Humanity

“It’s not enough to know the concept. The point is to actually put it to use.”

  1. Be active. Even when you suck at it.
  2. Eat well and less often
  3. Play everyday

Be Active – I find that generally, I am a poor example of an athlete. That said, it doesn’t make me less of one. You are what you do. If you write you are a writer, if you run you are a runner, and if you sing you are a singer.

Eat well and less often – humans were not built to eat 3 meals a day. We have been conditioned that way based on the beliefs of others, the food industry, and a medical system that is always evolving. There is a reason fasting has been a part of our culture for thousands of years. There is no scientific evidence to prove foraging during the day and feasting at night are less beneficial than 3 square meals a day. When we eat is as equally important as what we eat.

Play every day – Do something that puts a smile on your face. Do something for the simple joy of doing it. Balance walk a curb, run circles with your pet, chase your kids around like you are one of them. Life is too short to work towards the shortest part of your life.

I will do my best to accomplish these every day, but not judge myself when I don’t. Humanity is not mechanics.
